Meet BQpid, the versatile upcoming independent artist from Lafferty Ohio. The name BQpid means “Broken love” and the theme of a broken heart is represented throughout much of his artistry.
Taking inspiration from rapper The Kid LAROI, BQpid has learned to grow into his own innovative sound. He describes his sound as “emo melodic indie pop rap with a slight twist of punk.” With such a unique style, BQpid is set to make big waves in the music industry.
The self-proclaimed outlier has been making music for under a year now with hopes of building a fanbase that is excited and engaged with every new project he drops. He mixes, masters, and engineers all of his music by himself. He takes a lot of pride in not only his finished projects, but the journey as well. One of his favorite accomplishments was dropping his first album, ‘Anxious and Alone’. He says, “it took six months of work to finish that project, and I was going in without much knowledge of how to make a good song at all. It was raw, authentic, and real.” BQpid also has an EP out titled, ‘These Four Walls’. In this body of work, BQpid steps up his game in terms of production value, and feels as if he can “somewhat compete with the big dogs” now.
This year, he’s got a few upcoming releases that should stay on your radar. On January 28th, 2022, BQpid will be dropping a single titled, “On Repeat” that he is excited for the world to hear. Later this year, he is also releasing a collaboration with singer-songwriter, Jordan Brooks.
BQpid is not only a talented new musician, but a college student as well. Even though at times it can be difficult to balance everything, he has managed to navigate through every obstacle in his path. He states, “It has not been easy to say the least, and I’m very proud to be where I am in my career.”
The young artist hopes to make music that connects with people on a personal level. And for people who want to follow in his footsteps, he says, “be unique, don’t worry about following a pattern or a trend, be yourself and convince people that the talent that you have is something worth listening to.”
