Tres Carter (pronounced Trace) is a Emmy Winning Ohio rapper who got his start rapping as a young child recording over a landline as young as the age of 12. With struggles at a young age and a passion for music, this developed into him rapping at school for others where he got the inspiration for his current name. Rapping as an 18 year old on campus, Tres would draw comparisons to hip hop greats Jay-Z and Lil Wayne. Being already greatly inspired by specifically those two and R&B greats: Joe, Jon B, KC & Jojo, and Brian McKnight. These comparisons would inspire his name, as Carter is the legal last name of both Jay-Z (Shawn Carter) and Lil Wayne (Dwayne Carter). Tres came from him being the third carter and a hint at his religious beliefs.

Tres has been heavy at work with his music with his recent ‘My Beautiful Dying Marriage’ where he is doing a live performance at One Church. His album ‘My Beautiful Dying Marriage’ dives deep into hard topics of marriage, trauma, and healing during the pandemic. Topics that the average rapper wouldn’t discuss, but important, because their issues the average everyday person have. Tres is also preparing to drop his album ‘TC’ later this year which is discussing imposter’s syndrome, Solomon’s scandal, and more.

Tres has had a lot of life experiences that he is willing to share through his music. His first song hit the radio in 2009, and 16 years later, he is still here sharing his message and story. In the future, he is looking forward to working with Tame Impala, Childish Gambino, and more. Tres doesn’t just see himself as an artist, but an all around business man. Recently, he completed coursework at MIT and Wharton, and he plans to use that in the future. He is geared up to continue forward in journey with music and life, as Tres has many other ventures in life such as a future podcast with his wife, working with AI and much much more!
