Independent artist Quincy constructs music that is genreless. He likes to take influence from all genres to create his own unique sound. He loves to sing, but there is a different emotion he feels when rapping and losing it in the flow. Having been heavily inspired by Russ, Quincy likes to keep his artist name as his own. Genuinely, Quincy wants to make music that authentic to himself along with his listeners. Quincy has a bunch of new music he is currently working on. In his most recent release, “Think It’s Time” Quincy takes us on a lyrical journey while where he showcases his true talent. Be sure to check out the track on all streaming services! How would you describe your sound to someone who has never heard your music before?
Still being discovered but in a good way. I have come a long way, and am excited to improve daily.
How many singles, EPs, or Albums have you released? Which one is your favorite? Why?
I have released 7 singles and 1 EP with four songs on it. You know, the best thing about creating is I positively benefit from my creations on an emotional and mental level. My favorites would have to be See you Again, Sundaze, and Floatin’ Away. Each of these songs has their own unique stories and were healing for me to create. Sundaze and Floatin away are also my most popular songs. “See you again” is slept on haha.
What is the first step in your creative process?
Freestyle until I say or hear something I like. Then I will start writing and building from thereby getting some rough placeholder logic.
Where do you draw your inspiration from when you’re working on new music?
Always drawing from myself so the music is authentic. I want to be known for my lyricism more than anything. I am inspired by Kid Cudi, Logic, and Kota the Friend.
Aside from music do you have any side hobbies?
I love to hike and be in nature, it is amazing haha. I also love watching adult cartoons like Rick and Morty and my all-time favorite, the Simpsons. Currently, music is a side hustle. I am in a master’s program that will end in May and I currently teach 8th Grade U.S. history. So I am a teacher/artist haha. I love the kids I work with and try to instill the idea that they should dream big and they have voices worth hearing in a passion they have. I ran cross country in college and have since then been coaching as well which is an amazing experience getting to know family members and students outside of the classroom.
If you could collab with one person in the industry who would it be and why?
Kid Cudi, I want to feel that energy in the creative project and I know Cudi would bring wisdom and energy.
If you can pick any show or venue to headline which it be and why?
I would love to play at any festival that is outside like Rolling Loud. The energy would be amazing and I would get to see and meet all kinds of amazing artists and build that community.
