Meet Curtis Lamar! Inspired by artists such as Tupac, Master P, Snoop Dogg, Kirk Franklin, and more, Curtis Lamar finds his style of music to be a gumbo pot. “I was influenced by each coast and many style of music from Gospel, hip-hop & R&B,” he quotes. As for appearance’s, Curtis Lamar has a bold perception on how he carries himself. “My image is modern yet respectable. My Locs started to embrace what society rejects or is prejudice towards,” he says,” I wanted to be an example in corporate America that you can’t judge a book by its cover. Being a fisher of men, we often need to adjust not compromise in order to reach the masses”.
Onto the music, shall we? Beginning his career at the age of 13, Curtis Lamar sought music as an outlet to express himself in his darkest times. “I recently got back to focus on doing what I love and that’s the music while still balancing my life” he says. “I never wanted fame out of this just to be able to spread a message and give people the same joy I had when I first took it seriously. Music truly helped save my life,” he continues. Conversing with artists such as Master P himself, Curtis Lamar has been exposed to the beauty of life and music. “Where I’m from we love all music. We are not biased but there’s no market or love back in our area, so we must travel for exposure or bigger opportunities to be noticed,” says Lamar. With two albums and five singles out and available, you can listen to exactly how good the music journey has been treating Curtis Lamar.
