For the first day back to school in Chicago Dcgshun and Dcgbsavv, two prominent figures in their community, visited Gwendolyn Brooks Middle School and Currie High School to speak to dozens of students about the importance of staying in school and setting the right goals for the future. The duo shared their personal experiences and offered valuable advice to the students, encouraging them to make positive choices and avoid the pitfalls of drugs and jail.
At Gwendolyn Brooks Middle School, Dcgshun and Dcgbsavv talked to the students about the importance of education and how it can open up opportunities for them in the future. They emphasized the value of staying in school and getting good grades, as well as participating in extracurricular activities such as sports and clubs. They also encouraged the students to think about their future careers and start planning for them early on.
The speakers then moved on to Currie High School, where they spoke to a more mature audience about the dangers of drugs and the importance of making good decisions. They shared their own personal experiences with drugs and the negative impact they had on their lives, and they urged the students to stay away from drugs and avoid getting involved in criminal activity. They also emphasized the importance of having positive role models and surrounding oneself with good friends who support making the right choices.
The speeches were well-received by the students, who listened attentively and asked thoughtful questions. Many of them expressed appreciation for the speakers’ honesty and for the valuable life lessons they learned. The event was a powerful reminder of the importance of education, goal-setting, and making positive choices in life.
The students at Gwendolyn Brooks Middle School and Currie High School are now armed with the knowledge and tools to make positive choices and create a successful future for themselves as they start off their 2023!
