Born and raised in Philadelphia, artist Pnpmar began making music at the age of 15, but took music-making seriously when he was just 18. However, it wasn’t until 2020, when the whole world shut down due to the COVID-19 epidemic, that he really improved his skills as an artist.
The name Pnpmar was inspired by his childhood YouTube Channel, which was named PNPx16. At the time, “PNP” stood for “Push and Push,” and served as a reminder for him to keep pushing until he achieves his goals. As he began music making, he decided to pay homage to his older username and went with Pnpmar, only this time “PNP” stood for “Prince with a Problem,” while “mar” is a piece of his real name.
Pnpmar describes his style and genre as a mixture of hip-hop and R&B, but he dabbles in many other genres, such as pop, soul, neosoul, and alternative.
“I tend not to stick to one type of beat or vibe because my personality is all over the place as well. In a good way,” Pnpmar said.
Currently, Pnpmar is working as an independent artist and has 83 songs released and available to listen to on all platforms. Along with these singles, you can also find a number of his freestyles on his YouTube channel, Pnpmar.
Though he has quite the discography, Pnpmar says he is only at the beginning of his career. His main focus as of now is to improve his music while learning about the industry, business, and marketing, all while building his fanbase. His main goal, however, is to impact millions with his music.
“I want to connect with anyone that can relate to me and my music. I want to connect with those who are still becoming who they want and those who know how to listen without judgment. People who know how to live in the present as if the world stopped just for a moment, even when it hasn’t,” Pnpmar said.
To achieve these goals, he says his biggest motivators are God, his daughter, and himself. For those who may be following in his footsteps, Pnpmar suggests to “do whatever you have an idea to do” as everything in life is a learning experience and “you can never learn too much.”
Currently, Pnpmar is working on creating a brand new song from the ground up with UK producer, Arthur. The song is an R&B hit with pop instrumental elements, which fans can keep an eye out for its release soon.
For those who are eager to listen to Pnpmar’s work now, his latest single, “Trash Talk,” is available for streaming on all platforms. Fans can listen on Spotify here.
