Zazilla Went From Opening For Kap G To Collabing With That Mexican OT

Zazilla

Zazilla’s connection with That Mexican OT didn’t unfold overnight.

Even though the pair appear as a dynamic duo in the recent visual to their collaborative record “OHHH MYYY” years of relationship building and hustling on Zazilla’s part were what brought the collab to life. As a devoted fan since 2021, Zazilla took the initiative to express his desire for collaboration through direct messages. Months of anticipation and groundwork paved the way for a serendipitous moment when OT was scheduled to perform in their city.

On top of that, Zazilla’s relationship with Big Fedi Records, spearheaded by his cousin Chino, has been instrumental in his journey. The open and supportive dynamic allows Zazilla to exercise creative control while benefiting from Chino’s experience in the industry. The label’s history, including Chino’s previous collaborations with renowned artists, adds a layer of legacy to Zazilla’s journey. Bringing Kap G to Salt Lake City was a pivotal moment for Zazilla, marking one of the first instances where he shared the stage with a prominent artist. The experience solidified his belief in his capabilities and affirmed his presence in the music industry.

Fast forward to 2023, Zazilla was tasked with making a choice between leisure and work, which he feels ended up being pivotal in his career. Faced with the tantalizing prospect of a weekend in Las Vegas, Zazilla nearly missed the chance. A timely intervention from his friend N8 led him to reconsider, proving to be a pivotal decision for his career. Witnessing OT’s live performance and heading straight to the studio afterward underscored the organic nature of their collaboration, setting the stage for the eventual release of “OHHH MYYY.”

Looking ahead to the rest of 2023, Zazilla remains focused on growth and grind. With a four-year-old son looking up to him, he’s committed to being a better version of himself and achieving his rap aspirations. Zazilla aims to elevate Salt Lake City’s music scene, recognizing its untapped potential. Additionally, Zazilla envisions The Plug Brand becoming a global powerhouse, drawing inspiration from Berner’s success with Cookies. The goal is to see the brand’s presence in the hands of music enthusiasts worldwide, with personalized pre-rolls and branded merchandise.
