- “Kick, Push” (2006) – Lupe Fiasco: Never underestimate the power of storytelling. At the age of 15, Lupe released this single from his debut album “Food & Liquor” in the same year. Metaphorically, it’s a cautionary and stunning story told through the world of “skateboarding.
- . “Space Bound” (2010) – Eminem: If you don’t know who Eminem is, just remember he is unapologetic. Ever since the dawn of time, his music has always brought controversy. However, for some of his fans, he has a way of exposing the dark side of the human mind. His songs always know what button to push: whether it makes you laugh, shroud in disgust, or make you feel lost and empty. They call him edgy, misogynistic, talented, vulgar, and many other things. But one thing he isn’t is untruthful about his beliefs and thoughts. “Spacebound” perfectly showcases the beauty and darkness of Eminem. It shows the evolution of a guarded individual falling in love and then getting their heartbroken.
- “Diamond From Sierra Leone” – Kanye West: Come back to a simpler time, before he was keeping up with the Kardashians. Sampling “Diamonds are Forever,” by Shirley Bassey which was the theme for James Bond’s film “Goldfinger.”
