Join the Movement: HFAS17 Showcases Black Creativity and Advocacy in the Arts

The Harlem Fine Arts Show (HFAS) is back and bigger than ever, marking its 17th year as the premier showcase of fine art from the African Diaspora. This year, HFAS17 will take over The Glasshouse in New York City, located at 660 12th Ave, between 48th and 49th Street, for an unforgettable three-day event filled with extraordinary artistry, cultural experiences, and exclusive VIP engagements. HFAS is the ultimate destination for art lovers, collectors, and cultural enthusiasts, featuring some of the most influential and emerging Black artists from across the globe. Taking place during Black History Month, HFAS17 will showcase stunning exhibits, live art activations, and immersive experiences that honor the rich cultural narratives of African, Caribbean, and African American heritage.
This year’s event will be highlighted by celebrity beauty host Fumi Desalu-Vold, a renowned beauty influencer and content creator. With over 830,000 subscribers on YouTube, Fumi captivates audiences with her fearless personality and trendsetting style. She is set to ignite the HFAS stage, hosting exclusive beauty activations and sharing her unique artistic perspective at this year’s show.
Attendees can expect to experience an electrifying collection of works across multiple mediums from celebrated Black artists, including Basil Watson, E & S Gallery, Earlene Cox, Leroy Campbell, Justin Ellis, Marryam Moma, Sherwin Cadore, Thomas E. Lockhart III, and Waterkolours Fine Art Gallery.
Highlights of HFAS17 include artist showcases featuring groundbreaking artwork that reflects the vibrancy and power of Black culture. There will also be exclusive panels and discussions where industry leaders and visionary creatives will engage in conversations about the impact of Black artistry in the global marketplace. Attendees can witness artistic mastery in real-time through live painting sessions and unforgettable performances. Additionally, there will be VIP and collector’s preview events, providing exclusive first access to stunning artwork and opportunities to network with high-profile collectors and curators.
HFAS17 proudly partners with the TOUCH Black Breast Cancer Alliance (TOUCH BBCA) to use art as a platform for awareness and prevention. A significant presentation by the African Americans In Medicine (AAIM) will take place on Saturday, February 22nd, from 6 PM to 10 PM, shining a spotlight on health advocacy through artistic expression.
As a top sponsor, Gilead’s “Champions of Change” initiative will present a breathtaking exhibition that recognizes the contributions of Black women in the fight against HIV. This immersive experience will offer powerful storytelling, interactive displays, and a heartfelt tribute to Black women leading the charge in healthcare and activism.
HFAS17 is more than just an art show; it’s a cultural experience, an economic empowerment movement, and an opportunity to celebrate Black creativity at its finest.
