What inspired your artist name? And where did you get the name from?
I was actually inspired by the definition of the word “kind”. I’m a writer, so I’m always looking deep into words and their meanings. I just remember looking at the definition on google and seeing that it said “a group of people or things having similar characteristics.” So I thought to attach that meaning to my name. I would represent my own tribe of people, John Kind.
How many singles, EPs, or Albums have you released? Which one is your favorite?
I released 17 singles and 1 mixtape. My favorite song will have to be my new single, “Loyalty”. I was inspired by my life values to remain solid with my family and close friends. I wanted to also create a high-energy song that would make people want to feel empowered and strong being on your own if you’re going through things.
What do you enjoy most about being a musician? What do you hate most?
What I love the most about being a musician is being free to express ideas and truths of life. The thing I hate about being a musician is all the work that goes into running the business. I’d rather just spend hours writing and recording music without also having to do the business aspect of it. I love the art the most.
Aside from music do you have any side hobbies?
On the side I like going for hikes, learning martial arts, reading books, and playing video games. I want to say that music is also a hobby because I love to write lyrics just to write.
If you could collab with one person in the industry who would it be and why?
I would like to collaborate with Erykah Badu. In 2016, she retweeted my music and told me that she was impressed and that I was talented. It would be dope to come full circle and have her produce my record. I feel I would learn a lot from
